Healing Sessions with Tyrtle
If you wonder whether a shamanic healing session would be beneficial, please
contact me. If my spirit allies
verify that shamanic healing is appropriate and that I am the right
healer for you, I will ask them what type of healing work you need and
share that with you. Often, only one session is needed; sometimes,
two or three sessions are indicated. Follow-up support is
recommended and available: people who regularly practice journeying or
meditation (or both) obtain
the best results. If you want to learn how to journey,
I am happy to teach you or lead you to other resources. My goal is to
deepen your own connection to the flow of energy of All That Is, which many
call Creator or Divinity, so that you more fully become your
own spiritual authority.
Traditional and Modern Healings
The most common shamanic healing ceremonies, described below,
are power retrieval, extraction, and soul retrieval. Shamans also
"cure" or "psychopomp" the dead by helping them cross over if needed.
Many healing ceremonies exist in different traditions and by different
practitioners. The possibilities are endless, as "the helping [healing]
spirits" that shamanic practitioners work with are creative and
tailor the healing work to the particular person/situation.
Shamanism and the "helping spirits" evolve to respond to changing times
and changing needs. People in ancient cultures rarely suffered from ...
separation of mind, body, and soul;
separation from the rest of nature;
separation from the elements with less time outdoors;
separation from family/friends/community; and
separation from "All That Is / Creator."
Power Retrieval
When you don't feel deeply connected to yourself, to your own sense of
personal power, or to "All That Is / Creator" in shamanic terms
you have power loss. Classically called "power animal retrieval," this
simple yet profound healing brings back a central "helping spirit" or
"spirit partner" who is most needed in your life at this time (it may
or may not appear in animal form). If you pursue journey work, this Form
will likely be one of those who appears in your journeys to guide you.
Extraction
When you experience a spiritual imbalance, misplaced energy (energy that
is not part of you) can become attached to you or move into part of your
body. This misplaced energy, if allowed to fester, can cause localized
pain or illness. Some symptoms may include illness, pain, or multiple
misfortunes. Some pain and suffering is normal, it's one way we learn;
chronic suffering as in a string of bad luck is the hallmark. The shamanic
practitioner removes the misplaced energy and returns it to where it belongs
in a neutral (harmless) state.
Soul Retrieval
When you experience a trauma (such as an accident, death of a loved one,
war, surgery, drug abuse, chronic chipping away of self-esteem, etc.),
the trauma causes a part of your essence to leave the body to avoid experiencing
that trauma. (This is similar to the psychological concept of disassociation.)
The shamanic view is that the soul part that left will usually return
on its own in time. If it doesn't return, we often express this loss by
saying "I haven't been the same since ..., or "I've never gotten over
that." Other classic symptoms may include dissociation, post-traumatic
stress, feeling separate (more of an observer than a participant in life),
chronic illness, addictive behaviors, and feeling empty. The shamanic
practitioner journeys to retrieve the lost soul part and returns it to
you.
Psychopomp Work
Unlike the other healing methods, this one is for the dead. The shamanic
practitioner uses this work to help those who have died but not "crossed
over" to the spirit realms to do so.
